Year 1 have been enjoying reading The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. We have loved listening to the story and joining in with repeated phrases, while using the illustrations to help us understand what is happening. We have also been talking about the different characters and predicting what might happen next.
Our reading of The Gruffalo has inspired lots of exciting activities across our classroom. We have been using natural objects to create our own forest pictures, just like the setting in the story. We are also becoming authors and have been writing a character description of the Gruffalo, using adjectives from the book to describe his appearance.
It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more confident readers while developing a real love for stories and books!
