Daily phonics in Year 1

Year 1 have been thoroughly enjoying their daily phonics lessons following the Read Write Inc scheme. Each day, the children build their reading skills and grow in confidence.

Over the past few weeks, the children have been learning a wide range of new sounds. They have shown great excitement as they practise saying, recognising, and blending these sounds to read words. It has been wonderful to see their progress as they begin to apply their knowledge when reading both familiar and new words.

As part of their phonics sessions, the children have also been exploring a variety of engaging books matched carefully to their learning. These stories have captured their interest and helped them develop fluency and expression when reading aloud.

The children’s positive attitude and eagerness to participate have made these lessons a real highlight of the day. We are so proud of their hard work and look forward to seeing their reading skills continue to grow!
